Launch

“My child loves being at Launch. If I attempt to pick him up early, I have to come back at 6 p.m. When a child asks to stay at Launch instead of returning home to his toys and video games, I know he is comfortable at Launch and enjoys the programs.”

We provide before and after school programs for children in grades K–5 and full-time enrichment programs during school breaks. We are open Monday through Friday, with morning programs starting at 7:00 a.m. and afternoon programs ending at 6:00 p.m.

Our schedule allows time for nutritious snacks, academic work, outdoor play, and engaging enrichment activities. The school year focuses on building strong teacher-child relationships as well as the child’s academic, emotional, and life skills. We offer each child a safe physical and emotional space to help them develop a grounded and strong sense of self.

Launch teachers collaborate with one another as well as public school teachers to create lesson plans that maximize enrichment learning. We utilize teacher feedback and observations to identify student needs and plan activities with specific learning objectives that support each child while remaining fun and inclusive for everyone.

Here is a sample of a typical day in our before and after school programs:

  • The before school program for children grades K–5 runs from 7:00 a.m. until the starting bell for school. We serve a healthy, family-style breakfast where children come together to share and communicate. After breakfast, we provide a variety of activities that meet each child’s individual needs and help prepare them for the day ahead. This may include anything from a quiet reflective activity to a large physical group activity. We also provide additional homework support for students who need extra time to finish that last bit of schoolwork.
  • The after school program runs from school dismissal time until 6:00 p.m. Our program divides children up into micro-groups based on each child’s developmental level. This allows us to be intentional about our academic support and enrichment-activity planning.

Upon afternoon arrival, children meet for group community-building and discussion about the proposed afternoon activities. This allows the children to participate in “voice and choice.”

In their micro-groups, children engage in academic activities tailored to their learning needs, cooperative group learning, and child-directed activities. Toward the end of our formal activity period, the micro-groups come together for a large group reflection. We provide a nutritious, family-style after school meal as well as a late afternoon snack.

During school breaks and on school in-service days, we offer full-day care from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our structure and schedule of activities mimic our summer program. We also offer families the opportunity to have their child engage in an academic learning environment while on a school break to ensure there is no disruption in a child’s academic progress.

Registration forms for our before and after school programs can be found on the forms page of our website.
